Nymburk signed Phil Ricci

CEZ Basket Nymburk has upgraded its frontline by signing Phil Ricci for the rest of the season. Ricci (201, 29) arrives from Israeli club Ironi Nahariya, where he played alongside Nymburk shooting guard Ron Lewis last season.

Ricci averaged 12.2 points, 6.6 rebounds and 0.9 blocks over 16 games in the Israeli League. He improved to 13.7 points, 3.7 assists and 2.7 blocks per game in the playoffs. Ricci has one year of Euroleague experience under his belt, having averaged 10.5 points for Le Mans during the 2007-08 season. Before that Ricci had played for the Pusan KTF Magic Wings of the Korean Basketball League and Ricoh Manresa in Spain. He had a standout college basketball career at Oregon State, achieving All-Pac 10 Conference honors after his senior year in 2003.

"Phil Ricci is a player with experience from the leading European basketball leagues," head coach Muli Katzurin said. "His qualities include physical play around the basket and team play concepts. We believe he will improve our interior lineup and, by extension, the entire team. I hope that Phil will integrate into our team in the shortest possible time and show his quality."
